-

KUCHING: HELP University is currently offering UK programmes for students with SPM, STP, UEC and O-Level.

It is the only institution in Malaysia offering both A-Level programmes from Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level and Cambridge Advanced International Education.

Edexcel A-Level is a modular system that allows students to re-sit a subject to improve the grade without having to retake the whole examination while the opposite is true for the Cambridge option.

“Both options which cater to different learning styles are popular with students – a reflection of the effective pedagogy employed by lecturers.”

Its press statement stated that excellent results have helped students gained entry into to top universities like Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College London, University College London, King's College London, Princeton, Harvard, MIT and Australian National University.

Enrolment was especially strong for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) courses which nurture key skills like problem solving, critical analysis, creativity, independent thinking and digital literacy.

Alumni Aaron Low and Emily Ng who scored 4As in A-Levels were enrolled in Imperial College London and Trinity College, Oxford. Aaron went on to graduate with First Class Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

HELP University also excels in delivering University of London (UOL) Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree renowned for enabling those without the means or time to acquire a degree through selfstudy. Its 100,000 alumni include

Nobel Prize winners, presidents, prime ministers, government ministers and academicians.

Currently, over 52,000 students in 180 countries (including Antarctica) are registered as UOL students.

“The academic direction and syllabus is provided by London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) whose lecturers create course content, set and grade the examinations.

“The degree carries the name and stamp of University of London and London School of Economics and Political Science similar to those conferred on students studying and graduating in the UK,” HELP said.

The university has pioneered tutorial support for full-time students and working adults to prepare for UOL exams.

HELP has maintained the lead in coaching UOL students to obtain world-topping results (for number of First Class Honours and world's highest scores in individual subjects) through high standard of teaching and academic practice.

HELP offers full tutorial support for UOL programme in four pathways: Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Economics and Management, and Economics. LSE provides full support to students with academic study guides and access to its virtual learning environment.

“In this unique programme, you study in KL but graduate from the University of London. You can actually travel to London to receive your degree scroll at the convocation. The programme is rigorous and challenging, but the supportive ecosystem helps the students to do well. In recent years our students have attained so many First Class Honours degrees that the University wrote to praise us in glowing terms,” said Baldev Sidhu, head of department for University of London programmes at HELP.

“We don't usually blow our trumpets, but our graduates find themselves working for the movers and shakers of the corporate world. They also go on to other prestigious universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Chicago, LSE, SOAS and Wharton for postgraduate studies,” added Baldev.

HELP also offers University of Derby (UOD) programme which is highly ranked among the top 30 UK universities by The Guardian University Guide in 2019.

It won Gold rating under UK government's Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) for institutions that consistently deliver outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for their students. In specific subject areas, it is among the Top 10 for Management, Business and Marketing (source: Guardian University Guide 2019).

HELP offers popular UOD BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance; BA (Hons) Business Management; and BA (Hons) Business (International Business) which are ranked in the Top 10 courses among UK Universities, according to The Guardian League Table 2019/2020.

Accounting and Finance pathway is granted exemption by professional accounting bodies (nine exemptions by ACCA) for graduates to acquire full professional qualification.

“Business Management and Business (International Business) pathways are both accredited by Chartered Management Institute (CMI) UK, an institution dedicated to the professional advancement of managers.

“On graduating, students are awarded the CMI's Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership, which is recognition of the graduates' competency as middle managers and the benchmark qualification for full CMI membership, taking them a step nearer to acquiring Chartered Manager status.

“Acquiring two qualifications in a single course of study makes these two UOD pathways excellent propositions,” added the statement.

SPM, UEC and STPM and OLevel students can gain entry into UOD programmes through HELP's Certificate and Diploma or equivalent courses.

UOD programme includes an exciting 10-day international study visit to the university's UK campus for academic activities and seminars, networking with Derby students and faculty members, and visits to Derby's industry partners (airfare and accommodation provided).
