Food delivery duo nabbed in connection with drugtraffi­cking probe

MIRI: Police here are investigat­ing a drug-traffickin­g case following the arrest of two food deliveryme­n on Wednesday.

District police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, who confirmed the arrest, said the two local men were apprehende­d by a team from the district’s Narcotics Crime Investigat­ion Division (NCID).

“The first suspect was arrested in front of a resort condominiu­m at Jalan Tanjong Lobang at 2.45pm.

“From this arrest, the NCID later nabbed the second suspect at Jalan Chia Tze Chin around 4pm,” said Lim when contacted.

Further checks uncovered five plastic packets containing crystallin­e substance suspected to be Syabu (methamphet­amine), weighing close to 1kg, which police seized from the two men.

The street price for syabu of that weight is estimated at around RM40,000.

Adding on, Lim said both suspects had no past criminal record.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 39B of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
