SIDS, SDGA to hold second webinar on ‘Empowering Dayak Women Through Education’
KUCHING: The second webinar on ‘Empowering Dayak Women Through Education’ by Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak ( SIDS) and Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) will be held this Aug 28, running from 8pm to 10pm.
According to SIDS chairperson Dato Alice Jawan, the upcoming e- session will feature another group of Dayak professional women in the field of science, who will share their knowledge and experiences with the participants.
Registration for the webinar is open to all, and the session can be viewed on SDGA Facebook page via live streaming.
“This webinar is also run in celebration of Sarawak Women’s Day, which falls on Aug 29, 2020, and it carries the theme ‘ Sarawak Women in Digital Era’.
“Through this webinar, we will also provide information to, as well as motivate and empower our Dayak women that we can do various fields including science.
“Moreover, the session will also provide and share information about opportunities in education and careers.
“The Dayaks also need to embrace digitalisation in various areas of economic growth and also our daily activities,” said Alice in a statement yesterday.
Presentations will include Paper I on ‘ Engineering Programmes in Universiti Teknologi Mara ( UiTM) Sarawak’; ‘ Educational Opportunities, Their Impacts on Dayak Women and the Contributions to Society’ by Maureen Neging, who is head UiTM Sarawak’s Centre of Engineering Studies and Paper II ( Opportunities and Challenges Working in the Medical Field) by Dr Sharon Keripin, a rehab physician at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Australia.
Paper III ( Dayak Women in Digital Age: Opportunities and Challenges) will be presented by Assoc Prof Dr Poline Bala, who is director of Institute of Borneo Studies, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak ( Unimas); and Paper IV ( Are We Ready for Digital Age Education?) by Dr Sarah Flora Samson Juan, a senior lecturer under Unimas’ Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.
