Man dies while driving believed due to cardiac arrest

KUCHING: A 46-year-old man died while driving towards Kuching at Mile 17 Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday, believed to be due to cardiac arrest.

Sarawak Traffic Investigat­ion and Enforcemen­t Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased, identified as Green Saperk, a lorry driver from Kampung Skuduk, Mile 24 Jalan Kuching-Serian, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from the Siburan Health clinic.

Alexson said the incident happened at around 7.50am, resulting in the car veering out of control before skidding and crashing into the road divider.

“The victim did not suffer any injuries and was suspected to have suffered cardiac arrest and was confirmed dead by the doctor from the Siburan Health clinic,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The victim’s body was later brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Forensic Unit for further action.

Alexson also said the case is being investigat­ed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and the car had been brought to the Padawan district police headquarte­rs for inspection by Puspakom and the Chemistry Department.
