‘Emulate Senari Synergy’s anti-graft initiative’

KUCHING: State-owned companies have been told to emulate Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd by implementi­ng their own antibriber­y and corruption policy.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip in saying this highlighte­d that Senari Synergy’s initiative is in tandem with the Sarawak government’s aspiration of having a developed state by 2030 that is supported and embedded with the spirit and culture of integrity.

“I would like to congratula­te Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd for their continuous commitment in combating corruption and bribery.

“Companies that possess a culture of high integrity will be able to provide better and quality satisfacti­on to all its relevant stakeholde­rs, and will eventually develop stronger and reputable businesses too,” he said in his speech when launching Senari Synergy’s anti-bribery and corruption policy, here yesterday.

Talib assured that the Sarawak government will give its full commitment to eradicate corruption and develop a highintegr­ity culture, as demonstrat­ed through continuous and vigorous efforts and strategies that were establishe­d, cascaded and implemente­d throughout the state – from ministers to grassroots leaders.

Meanwhile, Senari Synergy group managing director Jefri Ahmad Tambi commented that the company has zero-tolerance against any breach of integrity as well as all forms of bribery and corruption.

He said this was because the company is driven by its core values of uncompromi­sing integrity, exceptiona­l performanc­e, and mutual respect, adding it is committed to preserve and uphold the integrity, transparen­cy and good governance in all aspects of its operations.

“Our integrity journey started with the signing of the Corporate Integrity Pledge in 2016. The pledge signifies our unilateral declaratio­n against corrupt practices, and resolution to work towards a highly principled Malaysian business environmen­t,” he said.

With a commitment to develop a solid business fundamenta­l and environmen­t based on good moral values, ethics and integrity, the company has put in place rigorous processes and procedures to ensure compliance and to mitigate possible transgress­ion of its system and processes since 2016, added Jefri.

He also said that following the launching of the company’s antibriber­y and corruption policy, Senari Synergy will also be introducin­g the Code of Business Ethic for its business employees, directors and business associates.

“Pursuing for the certificat­ion of lSO 37001:22016 Anti-Bribery Management System is also one of our plans.

“This is to improve the organisati­onal efficiency and effectiven­ess in managing risks associated with bribery and corruption as well as maintainin­g a high level of organisati­onal accountabi­lity and integrity.”

Those present at the ceremony included Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak deputy director (Prevention) Chang Ching, as well as Senari Synergy Board of Directors members Datu Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar and Shamsul Anuar Ahamad Ibrahim.
