Armed Forces veterans to generate income via JHEV Mall, online platform

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Veterans Affairs Department ( JHEV) of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) will introduce an online business platform, to help ATM veterans expand their businesses.

JHEV director-general Major General Datuk Dzulkarnain Ahmad said the mobile trading platform called “JHEV Mall” will help facilitate entrepreneurs among ATM veterans to promote their products and services easily and more effectively.

“This application was created to encourage more military veterans to register with JHEV to further expand their business and it has several benefits,” he told Bernama.

He said the first phase of the introduction of this platform has succeeded in attracting almost 200 participants who already have their own products adding that official launch of the application will be held later.

He said through the application, participants could upload pictures of products and services which were on offer, to make it easier for the public to make purchases.

“This platform is targeted at following the steps of other private e-commerce companies such as Lazada and Shopee as an online shopping mall that supplies various products, including home appliances and electronic goods,” he said.

Dzulkarnain said for the next phase, his team will include digital wallet functions in the application to make buying and selling of products and services much easier.

“The application was introduced about three months ago but as it is still in the early stages, the e-wallet function is not available yet,” he said, adding that JHEV s targeting about 1,000 military veterans who have businesses to join the platform.

Besides giving additional benefits to veterans, Dzulkarnain said the introduction of the platform could further strengthen JHEV’s finances thus increasing funds for the Veterans Foundation.

“The ATM Veterans Foundation Fund must be strong because we do not want to depend on the government alone,” he said, hoping that the foundation would also be able to provide scholarship assistance to its members one day, as practiced by other organisations.

“Until now, we have only been able to provide one-off assistance but if the JHEV is strong, such assistance can be given continuously,” he added. — Bernama
