Mercy Malaysia, ADRRN to hold online talk series

KUCHING: Malaysian Medical Relief Society ( Mercy Malaysia) and Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network ( ADRRN) are back with their Building Resilient Communitie­s ( BRC) Online Talk series this Sept 2.

Titled ‘Strengthen­ing Regional Network and Cooperatio­n in the Continuity of Covid-19 Preparedne­ss and Response’, the upcoming online talk will explore and learn more from regional counterpar­ts, particular­ly Indonesia and Japan, on their efforts in combating the Covid-19 pandemic and how regional cooperatio­n and partnershi­ps can be strengthen­ed.

It will be happening on the video conferenci­ng platform Zoom at 2pm. Registrati­on is necessary and can be done at h ps://bit.ly/3 haUh.

Invited speakers are Takeshi Komino of Church World Service (CWS) Japan and Vanda Lengkong of Asean Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Partnershi­p Group and Plan Internatio­nal Asia-Pacific.

The talk will be moderated by Mercy Malaysia’s head of BRC Hafiz Amirrol.

It is supported by Maybank through Mercy Malaysia’s Covid-19 Strategic Preparedne­ss and Response Plan.

The BRC Online Talk series is aimed at sharing knowledge and informatio­n, while exploring and learning new key concepts and approaches, with the aim of building community resilience.

The BRC framework is a holistic approach that includes all levels of stakeholde­rs in a community to increase capacity and capability by identifyin­g and reducing vulnerabil­ity with the objective of building the community’s resilience in social well-being and equity, environmen­tal stewardshi­p, and economic prosperity and continuity.
