PBDSB regrouping in Sibu next month

-

MIRI: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru ( PBDSB) will be regrouping in Sibu next month when it holds its first supreme council meeting to chart the party’s direction after it was given a second lease of life by Registrar of Societies ( RoS).

Party president Bobby William said with the reinstatement by ROS this month, the party’s supreme council will be meeting for the first time since June 2019.

“We will continue from where we left in 2019, and the meeting will focus on strengthening the party and calling for all Dayaks to come back,” he told The Borneo Post.

He said any changes in party agenda will be discussed after the supreme council meeting, including recruitment of new members.

Bobby was asked on whether any specific issues would be discussed by the party which is part of the loose alliance of opposition parties under Gasak, where he is the chairman.

PBDSB was registered in 2013 but it was deregistered by RoS on June 11 last year on grounds that the party did not submit annual returns for 2014 to 2017.

Bobby took over as president at the party’s triennial delegates conference after former president since 2016, Cobbold John Lusoi, died of a heart attack on March 7, 2019.

The new committee only found out about the party’s deregistration a few months later due to failure by previous committees to submit annual returns from 2014 to 2017.

The party appealed and an elated Bobby finally received the letter dated Aug 6 this year that the party had been reinstated after waiting for a year for the outcome.
