2-year-old baby is youngest Covid-19 positive case in S’wak

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded its youngest Covid-19 case yesterday after a two-year-old baby from the Green Hill Cluster tested positive for the virus.

The cluster was the biggest of five active clusters in the state with 29 positive cases eysterday.

Confirming that the case is Sarawak’s youngest thus far, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said four cases were recorded from the Green Hill Cluster yesterday.

The baby and a 58-year-old patient were close contacts of case 818 in the cluster, Uggah said.

“Both cases are asymptomatic,” he told reporters at SDMC’s daily Covid-19 press conference here yesterday. The other two patients, who are 20 and-26 yearsold, were social contacts of the cluster, Uggah said, adding that they had developed symptoms of the virus.

Uggah was tight-lipped when asked why the cluster was called Green Hill, but he advised people who had been in the area to get tested.

Jalan Green Hill, located in the city centre, is a popular hangout spot with its eateries and entertainment centres.

The Green Hill Cluster now has 29 cases, one more than the Baki Cluster which recorded three new cases yesterday.

The three new Baki cases underwent screening on Oct 18 with negative results the next day. After undergoing their second screening on Oct 28, the patient aged between 12 and 20 were found positive for Covid-19.

No new cases were recorded in the Bah Arnab and Seladah Clusters here, and Putra Cluster in Bintulu yesterday, said Uggah.
