Sarawak Furniture and Home Expo on till Nov 1

-

KUCHING: The annual Sarawak Furniture and Home Expo is brought back to all at the ground floor and level 1 of Mall One, CityONE Megamall here until Nov 1.

Since it first started in 2011, the expo has been attracting a huge number of visitors but it seems to be a different story amidst the Covid- 19 pandemic this year, said organising chairman Roland Chung.

The four- day expo is organised by Sarawak Furniture Industry Association ( SFIA) in collaboration with Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation and IDA Exhibition Services ( M) Sdn Bhd.

According to Chung, visitors and potential buyers at the expo get to enjoy among the most affordable prices compared to the normal prices during non- expo days.

“I would say that most items are offered at half- price, much lower than what one pays for at furniture outlets,” he told reporters when met at the expo yesterday.

A total of 20 exhibitors are showcasing their latest products and services between 10am and 10pm until Sunday ( Nov 1).

Chung said the organiser introduced two new highlights this year, ‘ Live Bidding’ on Oct 31 and Nov 1 and home interior design consultation services for free throughout the four days.

The ‘ Live Bidding’, open to all, is scheduled to take place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on the weekend.

Among items to be offered during the bidding sessions are electrical appliances, bedroom sets, coffee tables, stools, benches and wooden swings.

“Bidding prices start from 10 per cent of the price of various items. For example, if an item is priced RM100, the bidding will start from RM10.

“This is also the first time we engage a home interior designer to offer free consultation services for all,” said Chung.

He added that visitors do not have to purchase any product or service to enjoy the free home interior design consultation services.

The counter for such free services is set up at the ground floor, close to the Guardian outlet.

Chung assured all that special prices are being offered throughout the expo.

“Besides, the public get to view the latest products and services.

“It serves as a one- stop centre for all, particularly those who need to purchase furniture and home interior design services,” he said.
