Foreign man nabbed in anti-drug raid on a hut at Sungai Kemena
BINTULU: A 40- year- old foreign man was arrested during a raid on a hut not far from Sebungan- Sebauh Road on Monday, where police also found plastic straw tubes and packets containing crystalline substance believed to be Syabu (methamphetamine).
According to district police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili, the substance weighed 31g – the same weight of Syabu could fetch a street price of RM5,000.
“The foreigner was apprehended at the hut around 4pm.
“He had no valid identification document.
“He tested negative for drugs and for now, he would remain in police detention pending further investigation under Section 39A (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” said Zulkipli.
The Section provides, upon conviction, imprisonment for life or for a term not be less than five years, as well as whipping of not less than 10 strokes.
