Foreign man nabbed in anti-drug raid on a hut at Sungai Kemena

BINTULU: A 40- year- old foreign man was arrested during a raid on a hut not far from Sebungan- Sebauh Road on Monday, where police also found plastic straw tubes and packets containing crystallin­e substance believed to be Syabu (methamphet­amine).

According to district police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili, the substance weighed 31g – the same weight of Syabu could fetch a street price of RM5,000.

“The foreigner was apprehende­d at the hut around 4pm.

“He had no valid identifica­tion document.

“He tested negative for drugs and for now, he would remain in police detention pending further investigat­ion under Section 39A (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” said Zulkipli.

The Section provides, upon conviction, imprisonme­nt for life or for a term not be less than five years, as well as whipping of not less than 10 strokes.
