Passengers, driver injured in bus accident at Bukit Begunan

KUCHING: A 55-year-old passenger injured his right leg while five others sustained minor injuries when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and overturned at Bukit Begunan in Sri Aman Division at about 6pm on Sunday.

Sarawak Traffic Investigat­ion and Enforcemen­t chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred at KM45 of Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman when the bus was heading to Sri Aman from Kuching.

“At time of the incident, the bus was transporti­ng eight passengers. The driver lost control of the vehicle while going downhill, and it was raining at the time,” said Alexson, adding that the driver also sustained minor injuries. Two other passengers escaped unhurt.

All passengers and the bus driver were brought to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 43(1) Road Transport Act 1987.
