Pos Malaysia presents Deepavali 2020 stamp collection

KUCHING: Pos Malaysia is proud to present its Deepavali 2020 stamp collection, featuring 10 intricate ‘Kolam’-inspired designs.

This year, Hindu community celebrated the ‘Festival of Lights’ on Nov 14.

The limited-edition Deepavali 2020stamp collection is now available for purchase at Pos Malaysia’s new online shop at www.pos.com.my/Shop.

“For walk-in purchases, it (stamp collection) would be available at all 13 general post offices nationwide this Nov 18,” announced Pos Malaysia yesterday.

In addition, the stamp sheet features a ‘ diya’ (traditiona­l oil lamp) decorative centrepiec­e with the message ‘May the light shine upon you this festive season’ – making it a unique festive gift.

The Deepavali stamp collection is available for purchase either in the form of folder sets or stamp sheets.

The folder set is priced at RM38, consisting of a stamp sheet with 10 pieces of 60 sen stamps, a folder, three souvenir covers (envelopes) and three postcards, while each stamp sheet goes for RM25.

Avid stamp collectors and philatelis­ts should get their copies of this unique collection, as there are only 500 folder sets and 200 stamp sheets produced for Deepavali 2020.

Pos Malaysia Group head of marketing Schrene Goh said: “Deepavali symbolises the triumph of inner light over spiritual darkness. As our friends begin to light their lamps and prepare to don bright and colourful clothes in celebratio­n, let us unite as one.

“Pos Malaysia wishes all Malaysians a Happy Deepavali, and a wonderful celebratio­n with your loved ones.”

The Deepavali 2020 limited edition stamps are the fourth instalment of festive-themed stamps issued by Pos Malaysia this year, following previous issuances in celebratio­n of the Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as well as Gawai Dayak and Kaamatan festivals.

Notably, stamp collectors and the public may sign up for the ‘Standing Order Deposit Account’ (Soda) to experience a hassle-free process in purchasing the latest stamp issues as well as enjoying exclusive benefits available under the account.

Those interested to be part of the Soda community can do so by signing up at any post office nationwide, or do it online via www.posonline.com.my.
