Chamber backs state’s Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang 4.0

-

MIRI: The Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Miri has praised the state government’s decision to extend seven measures under Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 4.0 involving a sum of RM104.84 million.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had announced the measures when tabling the 2021 Sarawak Budget during the recent State Legislative Assembly ( DUN) sitting.

DUBS Miri secretary Abdul Razak Joni said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s efforts to ensure all categories of businesses, including micro- enterprises, are not left out of BKSS was significant during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“We petty traders thank the GPS Sarawak government for their concern towards the small business community, including the lower and middle income group,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Abdul Razak said under the previous versions of BKSS, many Bumiputera petty traders, including those operating by the roadside, received aid from the state government.

However, he said many names

were missed out as they did not register themselves with the local authorities, but this had been addressed by the state government.

He said this shows that GPS government is focussed on really helping the people.

“This aid of BKSS 1.0. BKSS 2.0, BKSS 3.0, and BKSS 4.0 will help petty traders, including the B40 group, to assist them as they have lost their income during the (Covid-19) pandemic,” he added.

He also called on the federal government to continue giving special aid to the affected group of petty traders.

According to him, micro credit aid is not the solution to help petty traders but giving aid packages like what the Sarawak government has done would help them during these difficult times.
