Covid: Exercise helps teacher rids boredom during quarantine

-

SEREMBAN: A teacher optimised his 14- day quarantine, after he was found to be a close contact of a Covid-19 patient, by uploading exercise videos to get other people, especially those infected by the virus and in quarantine, to live a healthy life.

A teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Dusun Nyior, Seremban, Firdaus Abdullah, 36, who has completed the mandatory quarantine period at his residence, said he did various workouts, such as goblet squat, sit up, jump rope double under and hang snatch, and uploaded them on the Youtube site every day.

He said the idea to upload the exercise videos, with the title ‘ WOD Pink Bracelet’, was to promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as making full use of the quarantine period.

“I live with my wife, Noraziera Johari, 33, and a seven-yearold child in an apartment and because of the quarantine, we cannot leave the house and our movement in the apartment is limited.

“So to get rid of the boredom and stress, my family and I do crossfit exercise, which is the best exercise to release stress and increase the body’s immunity,” he told Bernama, here

Firdaus, who is an Islamic Education teacher, said that he learned all the basic techniques of exercise from a coach in a gym.

He advised those who have to be quarantined to not be discouraged, but to always think positive and stay active to ensure they stay healthy.

“During the self- quarantine period at home, I did not feel stress at all because there are many exercise activities that can be done at home. My advice is to always take care of our diet and exercise a lot,” he added.
