MCC staff among frontliners to get Covid-19 vaccine

-

MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) staff would be among the frontliners to receive the Covid19 vaccine next month under the first phase of the vaccination programme.

Mayor Adam Yii told See Hua Daily News on Thursday (Feb 25) that the city council had submitted the names of its enforcement personnel to the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC).

“The immunisation programme here would be handled by the Miri Resident’s Office; thus all names for the programme must be submitted there,” he said.

Yii revealed that he had registered for the vaccination programme via the MySejahtera app, and would wait for his turn.

“There have been endless arguments and doubts about the vaccine, which has unfortunately sparks fear amongst citizens.

Let’s look at it from a logical and scientific angle where clinical tests have proven the vaccine’s protection against Covid-19.

“As every eligible person will receive the vaccine, let us look at it positively, instead of questioning which country or brand makes a better vaccine,” he added.

Yii also called upon Sarawakians to take part in the vaccination programme as it was the best way to protect themselves and their loved ones from the threat of Covid-19.
