Roadblocks being set up at Sentosa Resettlement Scheme
SIBU: The setting up of equipment and tents for roadblocks at Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme here commenced smoothly at 5pm yesterday for the enforcement of Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at the area from Feb 27 until March 12.
An observation at a roadblock by The Borneo Post saw workers erecting the tents while the police and a Rela member assisted with traffic control at Lorong Sentosa Timur 3.
On Thursday night, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC), stated that EMCO would be enforced in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme here from 12.01am Feb 27 up to 11.59pm, March 12 due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in the area.
Sentosa Resettlement Scheme Phase two covers Jalan Sentosa, Jalan Sentosa Timur and Lorong Sentosa Utara 7.
When contacted yesterday, Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said police roadblock were being set up at the junction of Jalan Sentosa/ Salim (near the football pitch) and Sentosa traffic light junction while two roads will be closed and guarded by the army at the junctions of Jalan Bukit Lima/ Sentosa and Lorong 7, Jalan Sentosa.
The Welfare Department will provide food rations to residents who are to stay home and not to leave the house compound.
“KKM (Ministry of Health) will conduct swab tests. No one is allowed to leave or enter EMCO area, even government servants.
“Students sitting for examination must liaise with their respective schools for arrangements to be made with the PPD (District Education Office),” he said, adding that KKM will standby a mobile clinic behind SK Sentosa.
He said for issues on welfare or death, residents of EMCO areas are to inform those on duty at the roadblocks.
“For residents of six houses not under EMCO at Lorong 7 Sentosa, the officer-in-charge of Lanang Police Station and Councillor Nazatusyima Bujang will issue special passes,” he added.
