SDDMC, hospital to enforce ACD in Tiong Hua Zone

-

SIBU: Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) will work with a private hospital in enforcing targeted Active Case Detection (ACD) at Tiong Hua Zone to ensure all affected residents would go for swab test.

Its coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee said ACD would continue at Tiong Hua Zone due to the increasing number of cases, but it would not be done like at Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) multi-storey car park a week ago.

He said with the collaboration, they would be able to look at ways for the people to get their swab test.

“We will continue to do targeted ACD for Tiong Hua Zone, but it will not be held at SMC multi-storey car park like we did before because many people found it difficult to go there.

“What we want is when we do the ACD later, it will be easier for everyone to get the swab test. I hope those living there will cooperate with the authorities as the positivity rate is still very high.

“One of ways is to go from door-to-door while the residents don’t have to register the QR

Code to go for swab test,” he said in his daily Facebook live stream yesterday.

Tiong Hua Zone recorded three positive cases yesterday with cumulative cases at 176 cases.

Dr Annuar said the EMCO could not be enforced at the (Tiong Hua) zone as the positive cases were mostly concentrated at one road only, with many entrances and exits.

“If we need to lockdown, we need to close many roads,” he added.

Dr Annuar, who is also Nangka assemblyman said the new strategy for the targeted ACD at Tiong Hua was needed as many residents still refused to come out for testing.

“We will work with a private hospital in the area to make sure we have a more comprehensive and thorough targeted ACD

at Tiong Hua Zone,” he said, adding the SDDMC could not afford to have one positive case escape.

Meanwhile, he urged the people living at flats under EMCO to stay indoor to flatten the curb of the infection there.

He said out of 36 cases reported in Sibu Jaya yesterday, 35 were reported from the flats under EMCO.
