Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 (PPMW5) seized a lorry carrying about 16,000 litres of diesel without valid documentation during an operation yesterday morning.

Its commander ACP Shamsol Kassim said the 48-year-old local male driver was detained while the diesel and lorry valued at RM169,400 were confiscated during an Ops Landai at Jalan Bekenu around 8am.

“During inspection, our personnel discovered that the lorry was loaded with tanks containing about 16,000 litres of diesel. The driver failed to produce any valid documents relating to the ownership of the fuel which is an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he said in a statement.

He added that a police report was lodged and the case has been handed over to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) here for further action.
