Curtin alumni to share on civil and constructi­on engineerin­g

MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia will run its ‘Going Places with a Curtin Degree’ Live Webinar Series with a focus on civil and constructi­on engineerin­g studies today (Feb 27).

The sixth webinar in a series in collaborat­ion with the Curtin University Alumni Malaysia Chapter will be streamed on Facebook Live at https://bit.ly/ CurtinLive­WebinarP6 from 2pm to 3.30pm.

A press release yesterday said the webinar will feature Bachelor of Engineerin­g in Civil and Constructi­on Engineerin­g graduates Ngu Ung Chai, Ling Teck Ping, and Bryan Chin.

Viewers will be able to find out what inspired them to choose their particular career paths, the challenges faced, and how a Curtin education and degree helped them to achieve success.

Ngu, who graduated in 2011, started his career with S Frame Buildtech Sdn Bhd in Bintulu, as an engineer in December that year, and worked his way up to the top management of the company.

Ling graduated in 2019 and is now a civil engineer with Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn Bhd in Selangor, one of the largest multi-disciplina­ry engineerin­g consulting firms in Malaysia serving both the public and private sectors.

Chin, meanwhile, graduated in 2009 and is currently assistant technical manager with Lum Chang Building Contractor Pte Ltd in Singapore.

The webinar will be hosted by Curtin alumni and Curtin University Alumni Malaysia Chapter committee member Julius Tan, while Assoc Prof Tang Fu Ee of Curtin Malaysia’s Department of Civil and Constructi­on Engineerin­g, who is also its Faculty of Engineerin­g and Science associate dean of Learning and Teaching, will be the moderator.
