SM Pei Min continues with CNY contests for students

MIRI: The pandemic did not stop SM Pei Min here from holding virtual activities and contests for students to celebrate the Chinese New Year (CNY) .

Between Jan 23 and Feb 5, the various festive themed contests held were CNY singing, CNY essay writing, Lantern Riddle, CNY general knowledge, CNY greeting cards designing, Chinese paper cu ing, CNY ornament design and Chinese calligraph­y contest.

“These contests are part of our yearly programme for our students to embrace the spirit of Spring festival and to appreciate traditiona­l Chinese culture,” said the school management in a statement.

Organised by the school’s Curricular department in collaborat­ion with various school clubs including Chinese Club, Art Club, Chinese Calligraph­y Club, the .

was not about the winning but rather an interestin­g way to lighten the festive mood for our students and teachers, added the statement.

“We put these contests online for students to participat­e. Entries were judged on creativity and authentici­ty. We were amazed with the effort and creativity of student works submi ed and judging took a bit of time,” it stated.

Winners were announced on Thursday with prize presentati­on to be held when school reopens.
