Sarawak Utd unveil new club logo

-

KUCHING: Sarawak United FC have unveiled its new logo that portrays the cultural elements of Sarawak.

Its publicity and media management said in a statement yesterday that ‘terabai’ – the Iban war shield – formed the basis for the design of the logo.

“‘Terabai’ is synonym to the Dayak community in Sarawak and was chosen as a replacement for the club’s old identity,” the statement said.

The logo was registered as the intellectual property of Sarawak United FC under the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).

“The use of ‘terabai’ in this logo is the result of the work of Sarawak United FC management that unanimously wants the club to come up with a new image to replace the old logo.

“This new logo will be used starting this season,” it added.

According to the statement, ‘terabai’ is adopted due to its nature of serving as a ‘shield’ to defend and protect from external a acks.

The new logo still goes for the three main colours of the Sarawak state flag – red, black and yellow.

It also feature a wing-spread kenyalang or hornbill, the Sarawak’s state bird, with a modern touch as a symbol of the glory of Bumi Kenyalang, and a ball in the centre carrying the definition of ‘glory in the football arena’. The logo will appear on club jerseys for the first time tonight in a friendly against Kedah FC at the SUK Selangor training centre in Shah Alam. Meanwhile, the club said it would continue to report the team’s latest development through its official social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram ‘Sarawak United FC Official’.
