SIBU: A total of 39 police, army and Rela personnel are being stationed at the roadblocks in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme here, which is placed under enhancement movement control order (EMCO) from today until March 12, says Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.

He said the residents were cooperating with the authorities with regard to compliance.

“So far, so good. The roadblocks have been set up from midnight yesterday.

“We are completely blocking areas under the EMCO to prevent people from going in and out,” Stanley said when met after the vaccination programme at Lanang Health Clinic yesterday.

The police chief, accompanied by his deputy Superintendent Collin Babat and officerin-charge of Lanang Police Station sub inspector Devaraj Subramaniam, visited the sites of the roadblock in Sentosa.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC), said the EMCO would be enforced in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme from 12.01am Feb 27 to 11.59pm March 12 due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in the area.

Sentosa Resettlement Scheme (phase two) covers Jalan Sentosa, Jalan Sentosa Timur and Lorong Sentosa Utara 7.

Councillor Nazatusyima Bujang urged the residents to give their full cooperation to ensure the success of EMCO in curbing the spread of Covid-19 in the area.
