MUKAH: Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine during the first phase of the state’s vaccination programme on Friday.

Also receiving the vaccine were Daro Hospital director Dr Al Husna Dahyan, Daro District Officer Bujang Rahman Seli, Matu-Daro police chief DSP Neil Beginda, Daro Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Nor Abdullah, Daro District Civil Defence Force officer Lt Mohd Najib Mohidden and Public Works Department (JKR) district engineer Awang Dasuki Awang Dol.

They were among the 66 individuals to receive the first dose of the vaccine during the programme rolled out at Daro Hospital on Friday.

Other vaccine recipients were Ministry of Health (MoH) staff members as well as other frontliners.

Prior to vaccination, Dr Al Husna briefed all those involved about the process. After the administration of the vaccines, every recipient was monitored for 15 to 20 minutes to ensure that there was no side effect.

Meanwhile, a total of 16,578 people in Daro had registered for the vaccination programme to date.

Speaking to reporters later, Safiee encouraged more people to register for the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

“Do not listen to all those baseless rumours. We ourselves have already been vaccinated and after monitoring, we’re alright.

“So, you don’t have to be afraid of or show lack of confidence in the vaccine,” he said.

Safiee said the registration could be done via the MySejahtera app – those with no access to the app could register manually through respective community leaders or the district office.
