Frontliner­s get first dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Some 200 frontliner­s here received their first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine at Lanang Health Clinic yesterday.

Sibu Division Family Health officer Dr Debbura Peak Ngaban, who was tasked with coordinati­ng the vaccinatio­n programme, said 80 Ministry of Health (MoH) frontliner­s received their shots in the morning, and 162 in the afternoon.

“We successful­ly vaccinated 36 people within one hour, and tomorrow (today), we plan to increase that number to 48 people per hour,” she told reporters at Lanang Health Clinic.

She said 1,056 doses (176 vials) were received by Lanang Health Clinic on Friday, adding that the first shipment of the vaccines under Phase 1 of the state’s vaccinatio­n programme must be fully utilised by next Friday, in view of the next shipment expected to arrive here this April 2.

She stated that frontliner­s, both medical and non-medical, were set to undergo vaccinatio­n under Phase 1.

Yesterday, Institute of Rejang Journalist­s (IRJ) president Monica Chua, Sibu Journalist­s Associatio­n chairman Hii Hong Wee and secretary Jane Moh were among the non-healthcare frontliner­s who received their shots at the clinic.
