Geragau shrimp season is back

-

BINTULU: The Geragau shrimp season or `Urang’ is hitting waters here again, giving coastal fishermen lucrative income.

Darehim Ridzwan, 62, known as ‘Raja Bubuk’ managed to catch up to 200 gallons of the fresh shrimps with the assistance of six fisheremen.

“Many are waiting to buy the shrimps we caught today,” he told sister paper Utusan Borneo yesterday.

“Everything was sold today (yesterday) to an entrepreneur and some parties at RM30 a gallon,” he said.

He said not many boats went shrimping yesterday as he saw two other boats which had returned to shore since.

“Perhaps, we will go out to sea again tomorrow (today) to catch some more,” he added.

Calm sea conditions with sunny and hot weather yesterday was ideal for shrimping in the waters of Bintulu.
