Mulu constituents encouraged to register for Covid-19 vaccination

-

MIRI: Residents of Mulu are encouraged to register for the Covid-19 vaccination programme as a measure to protect themselves against the pandemic and for their wellbeing.

State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Datuk Gerawat Gala said registration for the vaccination programme can be made through MySejahtera app.

As for those who do not have the MySejahtera app, they can submit their applications through the district office or community leaders who will be assisted by village security and development committees, the Mulu assemblyman added.

He was contacted yesterday on the response of the people in his constituency to the Covid19 vaccination programme.

Thus far, he said, the vaccination programme for rural areas in Baram had yet to be announced but he believed that the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) had already made a plan for that.

“Our focus now is to register the Mulu people for the Covid19 vaccine.

“We have already asked the district office, sub-district office, community leaders, village chiefs as well as government clinics at rural areas to assist the people in the process of registration for the Covid-19 vaccination programme.”

Though the immunisation is given on voluntary basis, he encouraged all Malaysians aged 18 years and above to receive the free vaccine.

On a related matter, he reminded community leaders that they should continue to monitor and restrict movement of people from one village to another or to Miri until the city is declared green zone.

“The Covid-19 pandemic situation in the state is still worrying. Therefore, the travelling ban must be strictly enforced to control Covid-19 from spreading to Mulu,” he added.

He also reminded Mulu residents that cross-border travel is also not allowed.

“Anyone coming in and out of Kalimantan must be reported to the nearest police station or immigration office.”
