Ensure strict SOP compliance among congregations, surau, mosque committees reminded

-

MIRI: The onus falls upon the management committees of suraus and mosques to continue ensuring strict compliance with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) among their congregations in view of the upcoming fasting month.

Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat while suraus and mosques in Sarawak had received the greenlight to conduct religious activities throughout the month of Ramadan, every member of the congregation must continue to observe the SOP to further flatten the Covid-19 curve.

“The government calls for continuous cooperation from the management committees of mosques and suraus to prevent the spread of Covid-19 into the community.

“A clear SOP guideline has been prepared by the authorities and the surau and mosque committees must ensure that these procedures are being explained properly to their congregations,” he told reporters when met at Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Pujut branch’s blood donation drive at Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District centre at Jalan Bulan Sabit yesterday.

Ripin said with the number of daily-recorded Covid-19 cases still high in Sarawak, the people must not take lightly the advice and SOP guidelines provided by the government through Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

He also advised the people against unnecessary interzone an inter-district travelling, particular those living in Miri who wanted to visit their parents or elderly folk in Lambir.

“In these trying times, we must continue to be vigilant, and protect our families, particularly the elderly folk,” he added.
