15 frontline agencies receive 10,050 boxes of festive goodies
KUCHING: The state government is handing out 10,050 boxes of festive goodies to 15 government agencies, mostly frontliners, in recognition of their sacrifices made during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said even though the festive packages looked small, the significance was that the government recognised their contributions as frontliners in the ongoing fight against Covid-19.
The recipients yesterday were made up of police, Sarawak General Hospital, Rela, Kuching Divisional Disaster Committee and Welfare Department personnel.
Fatimah said 10 other government agencies would be receiving theirs today.
“The Sarawak government recognises and appreciates the sacrifices made by frontliners to ensure the safety of its people.
“These frontliners are willing to sacrifice time and stay away from their families to ensure the people are safe during the pandemic,” she said during the presentation ceremony held at the state police headquarters here.
Fatimah said similar ceremony was held every year to recognise
the contribution and sacrifices of frontline personnel, security forces and enforcement agencies in Sarawak.
She said they had played their role to protect Sarawak and Malaysia.
She said the handover ceremony this year was different than in past years due to the pandemic.
“This year we visited all the agencies ourselves rather than bringing them all together to a hall.
“We hope this festive package will cheer up our frontliners who will remain committed in the fight against Covid-19,” she added.
