Patients complain of poor facilities at Kota Sentosa Health Clinic

-

KUCHING: The ‘patient calling system’ at Kota Sentosa Health Clinic needs repairs, says Datuk John Lau Pang Heng, a Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) representative for Kota Sentosa branch.

He said during his recent visit to the clinic, he heard many patients wanting the relevant authorities to immediately do something about the ‘patient calling’ monitor.

“The system has not been functioning for more than a year and repair by the Ministry of Health is pending. Our hearts go out to medical officers who need to call their patients by their name one-by-one,” he said in a statement yesterday.

This has caused much inconvenience to the patients, especially the elderly, who might have hearing problems.

Lau said he went to the clinic a er hearing many complaints from the public.

“Indeed, the elderly patients above 60 were the most vocal. They said the long delay in repairing the monitor display was not acceptable,” he added.

He also said many had complained that the seats were either not comfortable or needed to be replaced.

Lau thus called on the Ministry of Health to allocate sufficient funds to the state Health Department so that they could replace obsolete equipment for the benefit of the patients.

“Sarawak is an equal partner in the formation of Malaysia in 1963 and I think it is polite, fair and reasonable for us to ask for equal treatment.

“Maybe, it is also time for the federal government to return the health autonomy to Sarawak without any delay,” he added.
