RM20,000 up for grabs in SCC’s hole-in-one challenge

-

Golfers in Samarahan and Kuching will have something to look forward to every Thursday at the Samarahan Country Club (SCC) starting yesterday.

SCC came up with the Thursday Hole-In-One Shoot Out, a challenge that offered the participants the chance to walk away with RM20,000 if they hit an ace at the designated (par 3) holes.

Should there be two winners on the day, the prize money will be split equally.

“This is a very interesting contest for the golfers especially at this Conditional Movement Control Order period where less competitions are being organised and held,” said SCC captain Lau Chai Seng.

“We introduced and organised this event because we want to keep the golfers active and also give them a chance to do charity too because a certain percentage of the prize money will be donated to charitable organisations,” he said.

According to Lau, the competition is held with strict compliance to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.

“We would like to thank Singapore Chicken Rice (SCR) and Quality Concrete (QC) for kindly sponsoring the event,” he added.

The entry fee for SCC members is RM10.60 per player while it is RM21.20 for non-members.

Yesterday’s shoot out attracted 43 participants but there was no winner.

The event was jointly officiated by SCR managing director Johnson Tan Thiam Yuab, QC managing director Raymond Tiang Ching Kok and SCC president Brian Chien Chai Ung.

Also present were SCC tournament chairperson Susan Toh Siok Tin and committee member Danny Wee Bee Soon.
