MPI to hold joint mathematics seminars, workshops for UEC students
SIBU: Chang Jung Christian University and Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) will jointly hold Mathematics and Information Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science online seminars and Web Design workshops.
In a press release yesterday, MPI said the seminars and workshops are for UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) Senior middle three students of independent Chinese secondary schools to stress the importance of mathematics.
“The seminars on Mathematics and Information Engineering as well as Mathematics and Computer Science help students understand the application and importance of mathematics in the fields of information engineering and computer science to encourage students to learn mathematics and introduce the role of information engineering in many aspects of life,” said the press release.
The speaker for Mathematics and Information Engineering seminar to be held June 12, from 9 to 10am is Professor Hsu ChihHua, a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Texas (Austin Campus) who is currently an assistant professor in Department of Information Management at Chang Jung Christian University.
The seminar will introduce the purpose of learning mathematics and its uses, as well as its application in various industries.
Mathematics and Computer Science lecture to be held June 12 from 10 to 10.30am will see head of Computer Science Department at MPI, Su Kee Tiong, a Master of Information Technology graduate from University Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia (Unitar) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours Computer Science) graduate from University of Western Ontario, Canada introduce the nature and role of mathematics in computer science - emphasising that to succeed in the field of computer science, you must first master the subject of mathematics.
“On June 5, from 9 to 11am in Web Design workshop, Professor Chen JwuJenq, assistant professor in Department of Information Engineering at Chang Jung Christian University will introduce website construction, web design programming language, collaboration platform and design process, so students have an overall concept of website construction and design, and continue teaching Google site and Wix web collaboration platform, Google Both site and Wix are simple and easy-to-learn platforms, among others,” it added. Chen holds a doctorate from Institute of Management at Chang Jung Christian University in Taiwan and a master’s degree in computer science from Ohio University.
All senior middle three students are encouraged to sign up for the online seminars and workshop.
