KUCHING: Sarawak will continue to be placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) circuit breaker until May 17, said the State Disaster Management Commi ee (SDMC).

This was decided in the commi ee’s meeting yesterday following Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin’s announcement that the Movement Control Order (MCO) would be implemented throughout the country from today until June 7.

Sabah has also decided to continue with its CMCO until May 17.

SDMC said in its Covid-19 daily update that the commi ee had instead decided to tighten the conditions of several standard operating procedures (SOPs) which will come into effect today.

“No dine-ins are allowed at restaurants, food outlets, bistros, cafes, food and beverage stalls. Only takeaways, drive-thru or food deliveries are allowed,” it said.

It also said that measures are to be taken by premises that have been identified as high risk in spreading the Covid-19 outbreak generated through the Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) system.

“A detailed CMCO SOP Guideline will be announced on the National Security Council, Sarawak website,” it added.

Meanwhile, the commi ee said three longhouses and a village have been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for two weeks.

“Rumah Janggie, Lempa in Kabo, Betong is currently under the EMCO from May 9 to 22 whereas Kampung Tebedu Mawang in Serian, Rumah Mengga in Ulu Sungai Salim in Sibu and Rumah Santa, Sungai Ngayah KM2 Jalan Selangau-Mukah in Selangau will commence their EMCO tomorrow (May 12) until May 25,” it said.

It also announced that the EMCO at SMK Ulu Balingian in Sibu as well as four longhouses were ended yesterday.

The longhouses are Rumah Awit, Nanga Mujok in Julau; Rumah Tiut Usit, Sungai Setulan at Jalan Pesisir Kuala Tatau in Tatau; Rumah Mujah Atin, Batu 12 at Jalan BintuluMiri in Bintulu; and Rumah Terrance Tarang, Nanga Selaut Ili in Julau.

SDMC also said that the State Health Department has declared the end of three clusters, namely the Jalan Kingsway Cluster in Miri, Sungai Rassau Cluster in Matu, and Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan Cluster in Beluru.

The decision was made a er no new cases were detected or reported from these clusters in the past 28 days, it added.

The number of Covid-19 clusters that are currently still active in the state is 76, with 14 of them recording a total of 54 new cases yesterday.
