Rh Anthony Bau gets new belian walkway
SARIKEI: Rumah Anthony Bau in Rantau Tapang, Mujok, Julau near here has a newly-completed belian walkway.
The Rural Transformation Project (RTP) under Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin’s 2021 allocation was implemented by the longhouse folk on a gotong-royong basis under the supervision of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarikei.
Rolland witnessed the handing over of the RM50,000 project on Monday.
In his speech, he said projects implemented at the longhouse reflected the sincere efforts of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to improve the standard of living of rural folk.
“Within the past four or five years, residents of Rumah Anthony Bau have been able to enjoy 24-hour electricity supply for free provided under the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) initiative; clean water supply through the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (Sawas); VSAT internet system provided by Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA); various projects implemented under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and other development funds,” he said.
He said the solar electricity supply system, which has been operational at Rumah Anthony Bau since December, was one of 25 Sares projects implemented in remote areas of Meluan within the past five years.
“It costs about RM60,000 to supply solar electricity to each household and to enable rural folk to enjoy quality of life,” he said.
He added the VSAT internet system, which was set up at the longhouse last March, was one of 17 such projects implemented in Meluan during the same period.
