PKR Women Wing appeals for financial aid for senior citizens under quarantine
MIRI: The Women Wing of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak urges the state government to provide financial assistance for senior citizens aged 65 years old and above who had to undergo quarantine.
PKR deputy chief, Zulhaidah Suboh said the assistance is needed as this group of elderly folks are also not eligible to claim assistance under mySalam protection scheme.
“On behalf of State PKR Women, I would like to urge the state government to provide financial aid to this group of senior citizens who have been ordered to undergo 14 days quarantine by the Health Ministry, as they are not eligible to make claims under mySalam.
“If the government can assist Sarawakian graduates with their PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund Corporation), they should also look into the welfare on these senior citizens who are also in need of financial aid,” she said in a press statement yesterday.

Sibuti Women chief appeals to the local community in Sibuti to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the state and divisional disaster management committees.
“Please comply with the SOP and most importantly take care of yourself, your family and your loved ones, although there are people at the grassroots level who are a bit confused with the constantly changing instructions.
“We understand that announcement on the TV and instructions from the state as well as federal government can be conflicting, but we must adhere to the SOP and practise good hygiene,” she added.
