Outreach vaccinatio­n programme for Dalat District reaches completion

DALAT: Dalat District has completed its outreach vaccinatio­n programme, with the last station being run at Nanga Baoh yesterday.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Developmen­t Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said a total of 186 people from 10 longhouses in Nanga Baoh had registered for the Covid-19 vaccinatio­n.

She said two outreach teams had been deployed for the mission, comprising 10 health workers and six volunteers.

She said the first team was stationed at a health clinic, while the other had gone to four longhouses to register 71 individual­s, including the bedridden patients.

Fatimah, who is Dalat assemblywo­man, said the journey to Nanga Baoh from Dalat would take about two hours by river using a 200-horsepower boat.

Nanga Baoh could also be reached via road – about an-hourand-a-half drive from Dalat.

On the vaccinatio­n programme for Dalat District, she said as at July 8, a total of 9,993 people had received their first dose of the vaccine, while 3,242 people had received their second dose.

Separately, she also said the people of Nanga Baoh, Narub and Klid could enjoy clean water supply through Sarawak Alternativ­e Water Supply (Sawas). The RM16.7million water supply project for Nanga Baoh had benefitted 10 longhouses, a health clinic and a primary school, she added. The project kicked off on Feb 26, 2019, and reached completion on March 5 last year.
