SUBANG Concerned over the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic towards the society, Mydin Mohamed Holding Berhad (Mydin) has initiated a humanitarian aid programme known as ‘Mydin Tolong’ to distribute essential food items to the needy group.
The programme involves all 67 Mydin outlets nationwide.
The programme that started on July 3 has been flooded with almost 5,000 applications daily through WhatsApp and Mydin official social media.
The applications however, need to be screened thoroughly according to the criteria underlined.
The applicants should provide complete personal information and supporting details with the address given must be within 10km radius from the nearest Mydin outlets to ease the delivery process.
Its managing director, Datuk Wira Ameer Mydin said this was part of their corporate social responsibility to give back to the community, especially during this time when people are in dire need of help.
“Almost 1,000 sets of essential food such as bread, canned sardines, milk, biscuits, tea, coffee and other items have been distributed to the deserving families. Now is not the right time to talk about profit and loss but to unite and help each other,” he said.
The pandemic leads to the loss of income at all tiers of society, be it the poor, the B40 and even the M40 group due to the implementation of the Movement Control Order.
The programme is an initiative to support the government and non-government organisations to help the needy.
Mydin urged all to pay attention to the people around and in their circles who are in need of help such as food aid.
The government and nongovernmental organisations have mobilised various channels of assistance, and Mydin is pleased to join the march. It also called upon all corporate companies and individuals to work together in helping the nation at these trying times.
