Stall break-ins: Trader demands prompt action be taken by authorities

-

MIRI: A trader at Limbang Tamu is calling on the authorities to take prompt action against those who broke into her trading spot during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Normaziah Drahman 34, from Kampung Seberang Kedai estimated that she incurred RM300 losses in the latest breakin, which she believed happened early Tuesday.

“The incident leaves me angry and frustrated, as I need money to cover for my mother’s eye treatment in Miri,” she said, adding that she knew that her stall had been broken into upon her arrival at the ‘tamu’ around 6am.

Normaziah took over the business from her mother four years ago.

“It’s already hard enough having to deal with the challenges brought about by the MCO, but having to incur losses from three break-ins is really pushing me to the limit,” she said.

Normaziah said the first incident occurred in May, while the second struck barely a week before the latest one.

Having lodged police reports over all these incidents, she questioned about the frequency of break-in thefts occurring at the ‘tamu’.

“These thefts are really affecting us. We,the traders and hawkers of Tamu Limbang, call upon Limbang District Council to take security issue seriously, proceed to install CCTVs (closedcircuit television) in and around the area, and do repair works on the lights across the ‘tamu’,” she added.

The incident leaves me angry and frustrated, as I need money to cover for my mother’s eye treatment in Miri.
