JCI KLT upholds new norms in holding installati­on, awards event online

SIBU: The Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) of Kolej Laila Taib (KLT) recently held its installati­on and awards ceremony via as it embarked on adapting to the new norms amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a press statement yesterday, it said the virtual event, broadcast via Zoom Meeting on July 2, reflected a new platform of interactio­n for the chapter.

Political secretary to chief minister Michael Tiang was the guest-of-honour, who witnessed the installati­on of Anard Ling Ning Chuan as JCI KLT’s new president, replacing Aloysius Sim Sien Hong.

In his remarks, Tiang encouraged the JCI members to take up social responsibi­lity in lending a helping hand to those in dire need of assistance during these hard times.

“The strength of communal services always comes from a small action and determinat­ion,” he said.

Meanwhile, JCI KLT thanked Tiang for his sponsorshi­p in addition to his advice, which had inspired the organisati­on to move forward with upcoming events like ‘JCI Food Bank’ and ‘JCI Help for Crisis’.

“JCI KLT is committed to participat­ing, taking action, focusing on sustainabl­e impact and making a difference in the community.

“Our members are urged to take the initiative of equipping themselves with the right tools towards creating positive changes in the community, and also in the world.

“If you are a young active citizen, join us on this journey of local action for global impact,” said JCI KLT in the statement.
