Over 160 attend ‘Online Business Among Youths’ webinar via Zoom

MIRI: The second ‘Online Business Among Youths’ webinar hosted by Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) on Thursday via Zoom, is a great success with the participat­ion of over 160 people including its members and students of SM Pei Min and Riam Road Secondary School (RRSS).

The two-hour webinar conducted by James Ku touched on Industry 4.0 and 5G technology, how it affects the global market; what to expect post-pandemic and its effects; as well career opportunit­y for school leavers.

Ku is president of Elite Internatio­nal CEO Academy and a board member of public listed companies including Radium Group and Avalue Technology. He also talked about the retail market which is a growing industry.

He said: “Due to the pandemic, supply and demand continue from offline to online, and it is getting more competitiv­e.

“For starters, identifyin­g which market to target and how you want to promote it is vitally important to sustain your business, however small it is in the beginning.”

He also shared a few tips for newbies, by sharing the latest market trends that one can focus on as a starting point.

MCCCI chairman Ling Chiong Sing, in his welcoming speech, meanwhile said e-commerce was a growing sector that has seen more involvemen­t of young people.

“With mobile phones, a laptops and the ability to create interestin­g contents, the internet and social media are ideal platforms for the young people with limited business budget. Many of them started off with passion in hope to strive for success, yet due to obstacles and challenges, some may hit bottleneck mid-way.

“Hence, our seminar helps in sharing insight of the inspiring young people, who want to start their business through online platform. Hopefully, they will be inspired and be successful,” said Ling.

MCCCI Youth chief Alex Chia Kah Wei was among those who followed the webinar.
