IGTC-PARC Community campaign doing well, raises RM18,200

-

MIRI: The people here are responding positively to the IGTC-PARC Community campaign meant to help those whose livelihood has been adversely affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The campaign advisor, Mayor Adam Yii, said since its launch on July 7, it had raised RM18,200 in donations.

The campaign was initiated by safety training providers for the oil and gas industry – IG Training Centre Sdn Bhd, and PARC Shared Office – to assist families affected by the MCO.

“Proceeds from the fund raised have been partly used to prepare 200 food baskets for distribution to needy households. As of today (yesterday), 116 food baskets have been distributed,” said Yii.

“The committee has identified and verified the backgrounds of every recipient prior to including them in the list.

“In the midst of it all, it is disappointing to note that several individuals have tried to take advantage of the programme for their personal gain. They have been found to also receive help from other parties and individuals. Thus, we will work closely with the Welfare Department here to ensure that the food baskets are delivered to those families who have not received any help from elsewhere, to avoid duplication.”

Yii added that they would be transparent with every sen donated to the IGTC-PARC Community campaign by regularly updating the account on the website www.parc.com. my. Those who need assistance can contact the Welfare Department here via 085-419072 / 085-419073 / 085- 424534 / 085-424535.
