KAPIT: The vaccination drive targeting foreign industry workers in this district is progressing well, with the next round to involve some 1,500 individuals of various nationalities.

According to Kapit Disaster Management Committee (KDMC), these foreign workers are scheduled to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at the vaccination centre (PPV) in Sri Baleh Hall here from this July 27 to 30.

The administration of the second dose would also take place at the same PPV, from Aug 17 to 23.

“These foreign employees, comprising Indonesians, Bangladeshis, Mainland Chinese, Filipinos and a few other nationalities, are workers of 13 companies operating in Kapit – 10 of which are logging companies, while the other three are GLCs (governmentlinked companies).

“These companies submitted their lists of workers to the committee on July 2,” said KDMC in a statement, adding that for more information, the companies could contact the officer-incharge of the district’s vaccination drive for industries, Dr Adeline Alina, via 013-827 0311.

The committee said the programme had already conducted first-dose vaccination on 1,883 foreign workers in Murum, Belaga District on Thursday (July 8).

For Bukit Mabong District, however, KDMC said some 2,500 foreign workers from 17 logging companies, four construction companies and one oil palm plantation would receive their first dose of the vaccine, from July 26 to 30.

“For this segment, the workers would be attended to by the outreach mobile vaccination teams,” added the committee.
