Siniawan Clinic PPV can help Bau achieve 80 pct vaccinations by end of August — Serembu rep
KUCHING: The setting up of a vaccination centre (PPV) at Siniawan Health Clinic will help Bau District achieve its target of 80 per cent people vaccinated by the end of August, said Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh.
He said the Siniawan Health Clinic was authorised since two weeks ago to open up a vaccination centre with limited number of doses to cater to nearby communities.
He said the clinic, which is within Serembu constituency, operates as vaccination centre only from Wednesday to Saturday and the daily doses administered are between 100 and 160 a day.
“The decision to put this clinic as PPV is to assist the Bau PPVs and to enhance the number of vaccinated population daily.
“As the target is to achieve 80 per cent of Bau population vaccinated by end of August, we hope that with this little help from small clinic, it will help us to achieve the target,” he said.
Miro said the operation of vaccination programme at Siniawan Health Clinic is assisted by volunteers from DUN Serembu service centre and the local communities.
He said four vaccination centres had been set up in Bau District. Aside from Siniawan Health Clinic, other centres are at Dewan Perdana, Akademi Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Wilayah Sarawak; Bau Hospital; and Singai Health Clinic.
He said private clinics such as Union Clinic and Teddy Clinic have also been authorised to do vaccination of about 50 doses a day.
