Three-day vaccination drive at Sibu Foochow Association premises, beginning tomorrow
SIBU: A three-day mobile vaccination drive would be taking place at the premises of Sibu Foochow Association, beginning tomorrow.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth Bukit Assek branch chief Councillor Joseph Chieng said 800 people would be given the vaccine on July 12, followed by 1,100 each on the remaining two days.
The mobile vaccination drive is managed by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties in Dudong and Bukit Assek constituencies.
Chieng said the focus of the vaccination centre (PPV) at Sibu Foochow Association would be to vaccinate all eligible individuals in the Sentosa area, which is a Covid-19 Red Zone.
“We do welcome those from nearby residential areas to register for the programme,” he said in a press conference held at Sibu Foochow Association premises yesterday.
“The Enhancement Movement Control Order (EMCO) was enforced on Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme from Feb 27 to March 12.
“That’s why it is important for all those eligible to come for the vaccination in order to reduce the number of cases in the area.”
Chieng also said walk-ins would be allowed as there would be a slot for those in the waiting list. The operation hours would run from 8am to 4.30pm.
Meanwhile, the councillor for Sentosa Zone, Nazatusyima Bujang, called upon eligible residents in the area, especially the Malay-Melanau community, who had been given appointments, to come for the vaccination.
“We have been working hard to identify those eligible for vaccination. Those aged 18 years and above can come forward for their vaccine, starting thiss Monday,” she said.
Village security and development committee (JKKK) chairman of Kampung Usaha Jaya Baru, Phase 2 (Iban section), Jalan Sentosa, Simon Amud, also urged those eligible to come forward.
