MOH: Over 300,000 vaccine doses administered daily since July 5
KUCHING: Malaysia has been administering over 300,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for six consecutive days since July 5, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
As of Saturday, the total administration of Covid-19 vaccines throughout the country stood at over 11.07 million doses, it added.
At this rate, the ministry said Malaysia’s vaccination rate is higher than many other countries including the United States, United Kingdom, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
“Hats off to all our doctors, vaccinators, general practitioners, healthcare workers and volunteers who have been working hard in all the Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) nationwide,” said MOH in a Facebook post.
“You have all done something brilliant, and Malaysia is now on track to achieving herd immunity.”
Of the total Covid-19 vaccine doses administered, MOH said over 7.64 million were first-dose recipients while the remaining over 3.42 million were seconddose recipients.
In a breakdown, the ministry said the total number of doses administered on July 5 was 313,761, followed by July 6 (340,043 doses), July 7 (375,842 doses), July 8 (376,909 doses), July 9 (337,478 doses) and July 10 (324,745 doses).
In Sarawak, 21.32 per cent of the state’s 2.2 million eligible population have completed both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as of last Thursday, while 63.56 per cent have received their first dose.
On July 8 alone, Sarawak’s daily vaccination rate hit 77,343 doses, of which 29,206 were first dose and 48,137, second dose.
