- Peter Boon

SIBU: Seventy operators from Bandong Walk, MUC Food Court and Taman Selera Harmoni Food Court here received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine via mobile vaccination yesterday.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) coordinator, said for this purpose, a minibus had been converted into a mobile vaccination centre (PPV).

“This minibus, which is from Pansar Bhd, is also intended for use in the outskirts as it can access narrow roads.

“The vaccination of the 70 traders (yesterday) can be completed within one hour,” he said during his Facebook Live session yesterday, adding that the mobile PPV was parked at the Taman Selera Harmoni Food Court to accommodate the vaccination of the food operators yesterday.

According to Dr Annuar, this mobile vaccination programme is organised and run by the Nangka State Constituency Service Centre, with Taman Selera Harmoni Sibu Muslim Traders Association helping out with the necessary arrangements.

“I want to thank Sibu Muslim Traders Association chairman Abdul Taib Rosli for his team’s help in making the vaccination process run smoothly.

“There’s no congestion – everything is very systematic and well-managed,” he said.

Dr Annuar, who is Nangka assemblyman, also said with the operators at Bandong Walk, MUC Food Court and Taman Selera Harmoni Food Court having received their vaccine jabs, there should be no problem for them to obtain or renew their licences from the local authority.
