Covid-19: No new cluster declared in Sarawak

KUCHING: No new Covid19 cluster was declared in Sarawak yesterday, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

However, 12 active clusters recorded a total of 51 new cases, said the committee in its daily update.

The three clusters recording the highest number of new cases were the Sungai Pelepak Cluster in Meradong with 14 cases, followed by KM85 Cluster in Mukah (nine cases) and Lunyim Cluster in Telang Usan (seven cases).

“Other clusters that recorded new cases are Pasar Basah Mukah Cluster in Mukah with six cases, Nanga Tada Cluster in Kanowit (five), KM23 Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster in Kuching (two), Jalan Kidurong Lima Cluster in Bintulu (two) and Sungai Sengkabang Cluster in Subis (two),” said SDMC.

It said the Nangan Senjugam Cluster in Julau, Mongkos 2 in Tebedu; Tema Saan Cluster in Tebedu; and Benteng Sri Aman in Sri Aman each recorded one new case yesterday. The committee also said the remaining 88 active clusters in Sarawak did not record any new cases. According to SDMC, there are 20 Covid-19 Red zones in Sarawak, six Orange zones, 13 Yellow zones, and one Green zone.

Pakan reverted to Yellow status from Orange after recording 18 local transmissi­ons in the past 14 days, while Daro is still the sole Green Zone in Sarawak.

The Ministry of Health categorise­s a district with no Covid-19 case as a Green Zone, and over a two-week period; one to 20 local transmissi­ons as Yellow, 21 to 40 as Orange, and 41 and more as Red.
