Associatio­n distribute­s food baskets to 250 families around Kota Sentosa

KUCHING: The Seventh Mile Area Penrissen Road Community Associatio­n on Saturday distribute­d 250 food baskets to needy families in the Kota Sentosa area.

The distributi­on of the aid, comprising rice, noodles, cooking oil, sugar, salt and milk, was held at the associatio­n’s premises at Kota Sentosa, and was carried out by associatio­n advisor Datuk Dr Lau Pan Heng, chairman Ng Hock Min and commi ee members.

Lau said during this pandemic and lockdown period, many are suffering from loss of business, loss of employment and loss of income.

“Many people are in need of urgent help and it is our responsibi­lity to help families in need especially during this time of difficulty,” he said.

He also mentioned about having received complaints from families about the poor internet connection which has affected their children’s studies in that they have difficulty accessing informatio­n online for their study material. Lau hoped the authoritie­s concerned would see to it that internet connectivi­ty is improved in order to facilitate the learning process.

Meanwhile on the distributi­on of food baskets, Ng said it has always been the associatio­n’s aim to help needy families, more so during this pandemic period.

“We are very happy to be able to help those in need, and our associatio­n will continue to provide assistance as and when possible,” he said, and thanked all those who had come forward to render the aid.
