Nanta satisfied with Covid vaccination process in Kapit
KAPIT: Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi is satisfied with the process of Covid-19 vaccination in Kapit.
The Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and Kapit member of Parliament made this remark when visiting the Sri Baleh Covid-19 vaccination centre on Sunday afternoon to see himself the process of vaccination, to meet the public turning up for their second dose vaccination, and to receive feedback from the frontliners.
“I am happy with the process as it is going smoothly. I thank the frontliners comprising health staff led by Dr Adeline Alina and her team who are committed to providing vaccination to all those eligible in order to create herd immunity against the pandemic.
“I am told by middle or third week of August, the whole process of vaccination will be completed. I must thank Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari (Tun Openg) who allowed walk-in vaccination and register later approach when he visited Kapit on June 10 to attend a Covid-19 briefing.
“This is very important because of the peculiar physical terrain, longhouses scattered far apart and lack of wireless connectivity. The outreach mobile Covid19 vaccination team moved from longhouse to longhouse which greatly helped to provide vaccination to people even in the most remote interior longhouses,” he added.
As of July 18, he said 58,699 of those eligible had received the first dose and 44,710 had completed two doses, and since the mobile vaccination programme from June 14 to July 17, the average vaccine dose administered per day was 2,631.
Present were Federal State Secretary Datuk Amir Omar, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang, Kapit health officer Dr Mohamad Hamidi Sharkawi, medical officer in charge of vaccination Dr Adeline Alina, Kapit district officer Cerisologo Sabut and Kapit police chief DSP Freddy Bian.
