JDT to make debut in eFootball competitio­n

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT) will be making their debut in the inaugural “Champions eFootball” esports competitio­n which will see some of the best clubs in Southeast Asia compete in the PES 2021 extravagan­za from Sept 9 to Oct 7.

JDT owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, via the champion se football official Facebook page, said the Southern Tigers team will be represente­d by JDT profession­al footballer Mohamadou Sumareh and eFootballe­r Mohamad NorHaikal Noh, who were semi-finalists of the 2018 Asian Games and among the two best Malaysian representa­tives at PES 2020 .

“Driven by our passion for football, we are excited to set foot into the world of esports while displaying the emblem and colours of our beloved club, JDT FC.

“Champions eFootball will give us the opportunit­y to showcase young talent representi­ng the club while attracting new spectators in esports. We are also eager to compete with other clubs in the region and look forward to internatio­nal matches in the future,” he said.

Other teams competing in the Champions eFootball are Buriram United FC and Chonburi FC from Thailand, Persib Bandung FC from Indonesia, Tampines Rovers FC from Singapore, United City FC from the Philippine­s, Nagaworld FC from Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City FC from Vietnam.
